Geurtsen Machinefabriek
For Machinefabriek Geurtsen, Ditt Officemakers designed and created a future-proof working environment that combines practical functionality with manufacturing identity. The new office forms the social and connecting heart between the office and the workshop.
Project Case
Machinefabriek Geurtsen relocated from a distinctive but outdated carpet factory in the centre of Deventer to a new building in a prominent location on the A1 motorway. The move provided space for the next step: a comfortable, future-proof working environment that matches the company’s growth ambitions. The wish was clear and down-to-earth: no excessive luxury, but a functional, robust and professional office that works well for everyone and in which the reuse of existing furniture and objects played an important role.
The design revolves around connection: between people, departments and the workplace. The new office is designed around an open social hub with a reception area, lounge and work café, which serves as a daily meeting point and representative entrance.
Geurtsen’s craftsmanship is subtly woven into the design. Three interlocking gears form the basis of the concept and can be seen in the staircase, the café and the reception desk, among other places. These shapes are also reflected in the rounded lines of the spaces and in the ceiling lines, which ensure logical routing through the working environment.
Warm materials, such as oak wood, lend the interior a sense of tranquillity and cohesion. The quiet work areas are interspersed with areas for meetings and discussions.
