Culture Kitchen
For Culture Kitchen in Nijverdal, Ditt Officemakers designed and created a warm, accessible working environment where working, meeting and entertaining come together. Een compacte ruiA compact space with great significance, in keeping with the organisation’s social mission.
Project Case
Culture Kitchen, an organisation that helps people reintegrate into society, initially operated from a work café at their restaurant Kleurrijk. The need for a quiet and secure working environment grew, both for the team and for receiving participants and guests. When a compact but tall building became available on the same street, the opportunity arose to create a permanent home base: a place that radiates warmth, trust and accessibility, while also functioning as an office and meeting place.
The design called for maximum efficiency within a limited footprint. The height of the building has allowed for the addition of a vide, dividing the workspaces across two levels without compromising the open character. At the heart of the space is a large table that immediately feels like a kitchen table on entering – a deliberate choice to encourage interaction and a sense of equality.
Warm colours, wood and clear sightlines create an inviting atmosphere, while sustainability is reflected in the reuse of furniture, chairs given a second life, sustainable paint and existing lighting. The result is a multifunctional hub that is used as an office, meeting room, meeting place and even for private dining.
